To seek the good of immoral, powerful people we must absorb injustice for the sake of peace. This is mercy. And yet, God doesn’t expect us to pick up the tab for someone else’s offenses. Instead, he first supplies us with the mercy he means for us to dispense.

A Greeting from God our Savior
With his very first words Paul drops the peg that the God of the Old Testament is God our Savior. Jesus doesn’t save us from him but instead is the agent of a salvation God created us for.
